Safety Overview
Our Safety Commitment
Here at CDS Mestel, nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of our employees and partners. We make it our duty to ensure everyone who comes to work, gets back home safely to their families at the end of the day. Together with our trusted subcontractors, we enforce a safe working environment by implementing interactive group safety/tool box talks on and off the job sites. From the start of the pre-construction period to the turnover period of a project, you can count on our team to lead safe, plan safe and build safe.
Our commitment to safety is led from the top down, where it starts with our Director of Construction (DOC), who oversees all of our construction projects. It is the DOC’s mission to ensure that the overall CDS Mestel team; Project Managers, Superintendents, Carpenters, and laborers, have a clear understanding of the safety regulations on every job site. We also require that all of the above-mentioned maintain their OSHA 30-Hour training, the OSHA-62 Site Supervisor Training (for our project/site supervisors), any certification needed to operate special equipment onsite, and that they understand our site specific Health and Safety Plans.
Lead Safe
From our project managers to our site superintendents and from our carpenters to our laborers, we guarantee that the entire CDS Mestel team is capable of providing the safest, cleanest and most productive work site environment. We are all dedicated and willing to provide the best health and safety practices on behalf of all of the individuals working, visiting and passing through our work sites.
Plan Safe
No Health and Safety plan is alike. Once we are handed a project, our team gets right to work on the project-specific Health and Safety plan, where we meet internally to discuss the specific job conditions and environment that we will be working in. During this process we also identify any hazard controls, COVID-19 precaution guidelines, directions to the nearest medical facility, mandatory personal protective equipment, emergency action plan, and incident reporting. This plan is posted on each work site and we thoroughly go over these plans with the Project Managers and Site Supervisors.
Build Safe
We make sure that every gang box that is sent out to a job site is stocked with the most up to date tools and equipment. We also pre-test all power tools and equipment such as ladders, baker-scaffolds, and harness’s in our warehouse, certifying that there are no technical and visible flaws, in an effort to avoid any potential hazards or injuries to any individual in the field.
